Exhaust For Subaru Impreza WRX STI 2003-2004 Car

Image
The HKS Carbon-Ti catback exhausts are exclusive Special Edition HKS Hi-Power catback exhaust systems . Also referred to as the HKS Carbon Titanium Hi-Power catback exhaust, these exclusive versions of the HKS Hi-Power catback exhaust consist of a carbon-fiber wrapped muffler shell, titanium tip, and polished SUS304 stainless steel piping for a stylish and aggressive look. Each HKS Carbon-Ti catback exhaust looks as good as it performs. Inspired by GT racing in Japan, HKS developed its Carbon-Ti catback exhaust system with features found on racing exhaust systems. The HKS Carbon-Ti catback exhaust series incorporates a race inspired offset muffler and piping design, eliminating unnecessary bends for the straightest exhaust path. This less restrictive design allows the HKS Carbon-Ti catback exhaust to have greater exhaust flow and less back-flow pressure, enhancing higher-PRM power gains. The HKS Carbon-Ti catback exhaust system can be used for both turbocharged and naturally aspirated ...

2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STI WR1

Fastest, Most Powerful Impreza Car Ready to Roll Subaru’s fastest and most powerful Impreza ever – the WRX STi ‘WR1’ – is about to enter dealer showrooms in UK, with more than half of the 500 limited run already spoken for. First unveiled in January at the ‘Autosport’ show in UK, the Prodrive-developed ‘WR1’ has just received official Subaru (UK) engineering approval after recording the best performance figures ever for a road-going UK-spec Impreza. Only 4.25 Seconds To Reach 60 mph For example, 60 mph is reached in an astonishing 4.25 seconds with the 0-100 mph time at an equally impressive 10.67 seconds. Prodrive technicians also logged a quarter mile time of 12.8 seconds while the top speed is limited to 155 mph. By compari...
From saving gas to lowering the cost of routine maintenance, a few simple habits keep costs in check. For most Americans, driving is a necessity of life. But as budgets tighten and fuel prices fluctuate, many people are looking for ways to trim the price of driving. When buying a car, opting for a used vehicle can cut the cost of ownership from the very first day. The price is normally thousands less than for the same car new. In addition, a lower price means less sales tax, less money to finance the purchase, and a lower premium on any collision and comprehensive insurance. To get the best fuel economy, choosing a four-cylinder engine rather than a V6, or a V6 rather than a V8, is usually the way to go. Likewise, small, light cars tend to be more miserly with fuel than are larger vehicles. To compare specific models, go to the Environmental Protection Agency's web site at www.fueleconomy.gov . Once you've bought a vehicle, you can still go farther for less money if you foll...

Subaru Withdrawal from WRC

Image
A significant chapter in Australian motor sport history has been brought to a close with the announcement that Subaru’s factory rally team, Subaru Rally Team Australia (SRTA), will withdraw from the sport at the end of this year. The announcement comes after the team secured its tenth consecutive Australian Rally Driver’s championship last weekend. SRTA has also won eight of the last 10 manufacturer’s championships, including the last six in a row. The team has also scored numerous class victories in both the World and Asia-Pacific Rally Championships. SRTA is undefeated in its quest for the Australian Rally Driver’s Championship. The late Possum Bourne won seven championships straight from 1996 to 2002 while Cody Crocker has won the last three (2003-05).

Maintaining your Turbo Charged Impreza Car Engine

Image
Starting and Stopping your Engine ( including Turbo Timers) When starting the engine, do not press the throttle at the same time! The engine management system is programmed to automatically adjust the settings and if you should press the throttle during the sequence it is actually possible to cause the system to shut down with the result of a non starting car. (A couple of owners have reported a more persistent starting problem. When the dealer connected the "select monitor" to the ECU, a fault in the crank sensor was reported: a new crank sensor cured the starting problems) In order to prolong engine life, a few common sense rules should be followed when starting and stopping the engine of your Impreza. When starting the engine from cold, you should avoid hard acceleration or high revs (i.e. boost conditions on turbo cars) until the engine has fully warmed up. Most engine wear occurs within the first few minutes after starting when the engi...

Different Specification of Subaru Impreza Cars in the World

Australia/Asia In the UK the 208/214 bhp Impreza is officially known as the Impreza Turbo 2000. In Australia and New Zealand, the same Impreza is known as the WRX. In Europe and other markets (e.g. South America), the model is known as the Impreza GT. Apart from minor regional variations (climate control instead of air-con, cruise control, automatic transmission, special editions, heated seats etc.), the cars are essentially identical: 2.0 Turbo, 208/214 bhp, and a quoted 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of about 6.2 - 6.4 seconds. The 280 PS WRX models are also available as official imports in Brunei, Hong Kong and Singapore, and Cyprus. Automatic versions are also available, but only in 250 PS 5 door (wagon) form. In January 1999 there were 400 STi V coupes officially imported to Australia, in a choice of blue or white. Sold at AU$60k, demand was such that they could be immediately resold at a premium of up to 30%! In December 1999, the Autralian market was fo...

Tyres for the Best Car- Subaru Impreza WRX STI

Image
Subaru Impreza – 215/45 R17 Z Bridgestone RE04 The tyre of choice on the Subaru Impreza WRX STI is the Bridgestone RE040 size 215/45 R17 Z. This tyre is a little harder than the standard performance tyre offering; however the RE040 has the ability to stick to the road when warm. With some road testing we can see why a firm tyre is the choice of Subaru as the pressure the car puts on its 4 wheels is quite considerable thus requiring a sturdy tyre sidewall. The Subaru Impreza enthusiast’s tyre of choice is from experience a Goodyear GSD3 and a Toyo Proxes T1-R . This is interesting as these two tyre models are directional and the Bridgestone RE040 model is not. So we think you would consider a directional tyre when making your replacement choice.

Modification of Exhaust for Subaru Cars

Image
The primary purpose of an aftermarket exhaust is to remove or replace the stock catalytic converter(s) with a better flowing unit. It also increases the exhaust diameter for better flow. The term "aftermarket exhaust" can be broken down into the three main types: 1. Turbo back exhaust (TBE) covers items 1-4 as described below. 2. Cat back exhaust (CBE) covers items 3&4 as described below. 3. Axle back exhaust (ABE) covers item 4 as described below. The stock Subaru exhaust consists of: 1. Downpipe (with cat) 2. Midpipe (with cat) 3. Rear Exhaust Pipe 4. Axle Back Muffler HP gain is dependent on the type of exhaust chosen. TBE gains are 20-30HP . CBE gains are 5- 15HP . ABE gains are 5-10HP . These figures are highly debated as different manufacturers use different dynos with different cars with different levels of mods. It also varies because exhausts use different amounts of catalytic converters or are catless.

Subaru STi vs Mitsubishi Lancer Evo

Image
Hi all, have you ever wonder what will it be like if we placed two of the best cars around for a race on a snowy road? The cars I am refering to is the Subaru Impreza WRX STI and the Mitsubishi Evolution . Which will claim the top spot? Following is an article for your reading pleasant. What do you think? Sometimes you really have to pinch yourself in this job. Here I was in one of the only Mitsubishi Lancer Evos in Canada , riding along a snow-covered back road, in cold pursuit of a $47,000 Subaru STi. The two cars (sticking to the speed limit, which was tough in these conditions) were kicking up a storm cloud of snow, their engines were humming and whooshing in their turbocharged power bands, performance winter radials clawed at the ground, and I was having the time of my life. A cold January morning in the ultimate, not-available-here forbidden fruit rally special and its mortal enemy: life didn't get much better than this. The whole Evo-versus-STi thing was a natu...

AUSTRALIAN RALLY 2005

Image
Once more Australia rounds off the World Championship, after three days of flat-out gravel action on the roads around Perth. The stages contain a unique 'ball-bearing' surface, which disadvantages the first car on the road that is forced to sweep up the 'marbles' for everybody else following behind. Most of the western Australian forest stages are lined by trees very close to the side of the road - meaning that any mistake invariably results in a substantial impact. While the weather is normally hot, rain showers are not unheard of: another fascinating twist to what is always an intriguing and popular event. Many people take advantage of the sunshine to stay on for a well-earned break at the end of a long and tough season. The rally concludes with the world-famous Bunnings Jumps: arguably the most spectacular photo opportunity of the year!
